Rimmel London Sweetie Crush

This will be a short one since I’m not at home. Or rather, I’m back home. I flew back to Florida unexpectedly last week – I’ve been trying to find tickets to get back for my brother’s college graduation but the cost of tickets were disgustingly expensive until I randomly searched one last time and found a cheap one the week before. Yay for last-minute deals! I packed in such a hurry that I only brought one nail polish with me and you know I rarely use one polish for a full mani! Unfortunately, ever since my sister moved cross-country to live with me in CA, my parents’ house is a wasteland of polish – there’s four or five boring, goopy old Sinful Colors pathetically rolling around in the bathroom cabinet. So when I was grabbing some things at Walgreens and I saw the Rimmel Sweetie Crush display with a “buy one get one half off” sign, I simply couldn’t help myself!

05-05-14 bottles

I know, I know – I just did a purple/mint mani. I don’t know what’s gotten into me, but the pink, yellow, and blue that were also part of this collection just didn’t appeal to me. These tiny little bottles (half the size of regular polishes) are so darling, I love the awning sticker around the cap! The formula was easy to apply, but sheer – I did three coats of Violet Swizzle and four of Fizzy Appleicious, which was actually opaque at three, but adding a fourth coat allowed me to match the bottle color.

Oops, forgot to add that I used China Glaze's That's Shore Bright as my base for my middle and ring fingers.

These two are both very pale pastels, but the lavender is pink-leaning and the mint is yellow-leaning, which is how I like my purples and greens! They have iridescent shimmer that’s really sparkly and the texture is very fine; they also sort of look frosty to me, which normally I hate, but with the sparkly matte texture it’s fine. I only needed two coats of each when I taped the diagonal tips off over That’s Shore Bright because they were on top of an opaque base. I think I’m going to try layering these guys over a slightly darker creme base – the colors are cute, but a bit too washed out for my taste.

Please excuse my cuticles and clean up - it's vey hard to do a great manicure when you have none of your tools!

Nothing too thrilling, but it’s better than nothing! And I do love that I got two texture polishes for about $3. I hope you enjoyed this post! Thank you for reading, see you next time – A x
