Is there any nail art that’s more fun than a splatter?
China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, Sinful Colors Dream On, China Glaze Liquid Leather, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Models Own Turquoise Sea
I really like this color combo – the neons really pop over the white base, and for some reason a little black always helps color combinations come together, I think.
I can never figure out how to pose with both hands in the same shot.
My right hand actually came out way better than my left, but MAN is it awkward to pose my right hand and take photos with my left!
I forgot how incredibly messy splatter manis are. I put two plastic bags down on my table to catch all the polish splatter and one or two drops still got on my phone :/ Thank God for screen covers!
The blue stuff around my nails is my liquid latex, which helps with clean up – you just peel off the latex instead of painstakingly cleaning up around the nail with a tiny brush or Q-tip.
I actually really loved the thumbs of each hand, too!
One more photo because I thought it was really cool – I went out this weekend and the neon sign near the balcony we were on made my nails glow awesomely because of the blue light.
Sorry this was so photo-heavy, I just really loved this mani! Thanks for reading, see y’all next time – A x
I haven’t done a dry brush in forever, I forgot how fun and easy they are!
My sister chose the color combo – pale pink and cobalt – because sometimes I get way too overwhelmed with all the choices/possible combos and just can’t deal, ha. I did a base of MBSW because my Fourth of July mani made me remember how awesome it is as a canvas for nail art.
I’m not sure how I feel about the final result. I think the color combo looks very ’80s… Seriously, doesn’t this remind you of like, those satiny pale pink couches, neon light accents, and sketched lady art that was weirdly popular back in the day? I think if I had used a navy instead of royal blue it wouldn’t be so bad, but now I can’t un-see how ’80s it is! It’s making me want to watch Back to the Future or Miami Vice or something.
I wasn’t a huge fan of this, as you might be able to tell, so this will be a super quick post! Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time – A x
Hi, everyone! I’m popping in really quick to show off my July 4th mani this year!
Tried to capture the holo of Indie Go and Very Ornamental, but no dice…they have a pretty decent holo flare in person, promise!
I almost used my fave polish, Mirrorball, to keep all the polishes holo, but at the last minute decided to use My Boyfriend Scales Walls. MBSW is a really great polish – it’s white with a drop of gray and is opaque and non-streaky in two easy coats, which is amazing for a white polish!
For my ring finger I used some star nail decals from What’s Up Nails over Indie Go, and on my middle I (painstakingly) placed stripe decals over MBSW then painted Very Ornamental over top to get the ‘Merica stripes. I like this mani way better than my one from last year, although that one was super last-minute. I’m well-documented as not being a fan of red, but I actually like this mostly-red mani because I think it’s so freaking cute!
The star decals weren’t totally stuck down in a few places so they didn’t come out perfect, but I kinda like how they look a little haphazard, almost like they were handprinted on.
Thanks for reading, and a happy Independence Day to all my fellow Americans! I hope you have a fun and safe holiday – A x
Hello, dear readers! How’s your weekend panning out? I did a lot of fun stuff outdoor this weekend – like flea market perusing! – but ughhhhhhhh have I ever mentioned how much I hate summer? Because I DO. It’s not even July and I’m already over being hot all the time. Blerg. Anyway, being hot in the summer nicely segues into today’s prompt – beach nails!
From left: Color Club Blue-Ming, Models Own Turquoise Sea, Essie Sand Tropez, China Glaze White On White
I saw this beach waves-inspired look on Pinterest somewhere and thought the idea was perfect since I love me a waterspotted mani, and gave it a go.
I attempted to do the same water-spotted technique over the gradient as I did for my turquoise nails, but with white polish. The white was way too sheer, though, so I did 3-5 drops before spraying, but then that made the white a little more opaque than I wanted…I mean, it doesn’t look terrible, just not as great as I wanted.
I do think that it gets the “sea foam floating over the sand and water” look I was going for across, although some of the polish was a little more…wavy? like on my ring finger than that foamy dappled/spotted look I wanted. I probably should’ve experimented with how far away to spray to get bigger spots, but I’ll keep that in mind for next time.
This photo is a little darker to better see the white over the gradient.
The bubbles from my top coat kind of add to the “sea foam” look, don’t they?
I did really love these nails, though! I think they’re really pretty, and I hope you do, too! I only have one nail art challenge left in June, so thanks for reading, and I’ll see you then! – A x
Hello, friends! This is gonna be a short post, so let’s get to it!
Left to right: Zoya Shelby, China Glaze Hang Ten Toes, CG Sweet Hook, CG That’s Shore Bright, CG Kinetic Candy, CG Electric Beat, Color Club Blue-Ming, CG Too Yacht To Handle, Color Club Twiggie, Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet
I used this exact color combination two years ago in this mani, and I still love it! There’s nothing more fun than having a candy-coated rainbow on your tips.
This took a little bit of time – a few of the colors required three coats (Blue-Ming, Sweet Hook), then I had to wait for top coat to dry, as well, and then it took some time to get all the zigzag/chevron decals to evenly spaced – but the end result is so worth it. I think this is cute without being too cutesy, you know what I mean?
Here’s a better pic of the thumb.
My mom and sister said this looks like Easter eggs, which I didn’t notice but they totally do! I kinda don’t want to take this off, I love it so much! 😍
Thanks for reading, everyone! See ya next time – A x
